Joss Stone records Poppy Appeal single

20 10 2014

British singer Joss Stone has teamed up with guitarist Jeff Beck to record this year's Royal British Legion official Poppy Appeal single, a cover of Eric Bogle's No Man's Land.

The song, originally recorded in 1976, focuses on the destiny of a young man named Willie McBride, who died during WWI. Stone, who chose the song because of the way it reflected the 'terrible fate' of so many, commented 'We started looking into who Willie was at first, but we soon realised that finding him was not actually as important as what he and this song stand for, peace and the sacrifice made by so many'.
